A committed and loving partnership is a beautiful thing. When it comes to long-term commitment, marriage is now promoted as a socially acceptable option. However, times are changing and Indians are looking for other alternatives than committed relationships.
While many people marry, many choose to form a domestic relationship or companionship. It is when a husband and wife are married but live together without a legal agreement. Dating is when a committed couple decides to live in their own home in a long-term relationship.
To further clarify this, a survey was done on the members of her 25 to the 35-year-old community in Tier A cities in India such as Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore.
According to the platform’s subscribers, 80% of them want to have a committed relationship without labeling them. Sixty-five percent of them expressed interest in marriage after their relationship had stood the test of time. Most of them see marriage as just a label, valuing commitment and healthy relationships over labels.
After marriage, women are expected to make life adjustments like Changing their surname in all records, refuting their place of birth, claiming their marriage as their own, and sticking to the ways of their “new home”.
Female subscribers however say they are overwhelmed with marriage, want to avoid it, and want to focus on their relationship to strengthen it. A survey by andwemet found that 30% of subscribers would rather have a domestic partnership between lovers than getting married. prove to be fruitful.
