Switzerland closes airspace after computer glitch at Zurich, Geneva airports
Problems with the air traffic control system have halted take-offs and landings at at least two major Switzerland airports, news agency Reuters said Wednesday morning. Citing Swiss air navigation service provider Skyguide, Reuters said a technical malfunction led to Swiss airspace being closed for safety reasons.
“This airspace closure is in effect until further notice,” Skyguide said.
Zurich airport has said take-offs and landings have stopped.
Geneva airport has said traffic will not resume before 11 am local time (9 am GMT, 1.30 pm IST).
