Microsoft lays off 1800 workers as part of a reorganisation process in order to hire more

Microsoft has cut off 1800 employees in several areas as part of structural changes. The company announced that it laid off some employees as it rearranged business groupings and roles following the end of its fiscal year on June 30. Microsoft will continue to add more people and will end the current fiscal year with a larger workforce.

“Only a few roles were eliminated today.” “We, like other organisations, assess our business objectives on a regular basis and make structural changes as warranted,” Microsoft said. The layoffs reflect less than 1% of Microsoft’s total workforce of more than 1.8 million individuals.

Microsoft also stated that, despite the layoffs, it intends to invest in our company and increase staff overall in the coming year.

Google, another major tech company, said that it will reduce employment for the remainder of 2022. In a note to staff, CEO Sundar Pichai stated that the business will continue to support its “most significant initiatives” and will focus on recruiting engineering, technical, and other vital jobs.

Pichai’s announcement comes only weeks when Meta imposed similar limits due to sales falling short of projections. Snap, Snapchat’s parent firm, has also announced a slowing of the employment process. Tesla, which is controlled by billionaire Elon Musk, also laid off several staff earlier this year.
