How to mute unknown callers without blocking them on your Apple iPhone

Apple iOS provides iPhone owners with numerous handy functions. Among the various features is a call control tool that allows iPhone users to cease receiving calls or texts from specific contacts without blocking them.
The function we’re discussing is known as ‘Silence Unknown Callers.’ When you don’t want to be harassed by a known/unknown person’s calls or messages but don’t want to block them, this feature comes in handy.
We’ve all been in the situation when we block someone because they bother us with their incessant calls and messages, but we’ll need to contact them at some point, so we have to unblock them.
The Silence Unknown Callers option comes in handy in these situations. If you haven’t saved their phone number on your Apple iPhone, this feature will automatically silence their calls. It can also record the call and display the phone number in the recent calls list.
However, the feature is only available on Apple iPhones running iOS 15 or later.
Here’s how to make your Apple iPhone’s ‘Silence Unknown Callers’ feature work.
How to silence unknown callers on Apple iPhone
Step 1: On your Apple iPhone, open the Settings app.
Step 2: Select “Phone” from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Select “Silence Unknown Callers” from the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Finally, enable the “Silence Unknown Callers” feature.
Any calls or texts from unknown callers or callers who are not in your phone’s contact list will now be silenced on your iPhone. This feature, however, may cause issues because it will silence any calls from callers who are not on your contact list, such as food delivery agents or bank or utility agencies. If you make an emergency call from your iPhone, the capability will be immediately removed for 24 hours.
