Android apps have recently been in the news due to security concerns. Google removed four apps from the Play Store last month after it was discovered that they contained malware. Surprisingly, 35 more Android apps have been discovered in the Google Play Store that not only contains malware but also steals money from users without leaving a trace. If you have any of these applications installed on your device, you must act quickly or risk losing all of your life’s savings. Continue reading for more information.

According to a blog post by cyber security firm Bitdefender, 35 new Android applications have been discovered on Google Play Store, with a total download of more than 2 million. These malicious apps are more cunning than others we’ve seen recently because they can conceal their presence by renaming themselves and changing their icon. They then begin the terrifying process of breaking into the device after concealing their identity.

35 Android apps that install malware and steal money from users have been discovered

These apps have been discovered to use a new technique to install malware. Instead of storing them within the apps (which would result in a Google ban if discovered), these apps display aggressive advertisements to users, and if they click on them, malware is immediately installed on the device. The app also displays genuine advertisements so that it can both monetize itself on the Play Store and mix it for users to have a better chance of getting them to click.

Because the apps are hidden, it is difficult for users to find and delete them, and less tech-savvy users continue to be bombarded with malware-infected ads. When malware is installed on a device, it tracks and steals all sensitive data, as well as the user’s money.

If you have any of these apps, you must exercise extreme caution. Check out the full list of apps below:

Google has banned these apps, but if you have them installed, you must manually uninstall them. If you’re having trouble deleting these apps, go to Settings > Apps > Manage and carefully go through the list. Because some of these apps change their name and icon to ‘Settings,’ you’ve found your culprit if you see two Settings apps. Keep an eye out for app names that begin with “com.android…”. When you find them, delete them immediately and do not click on any notifications that you do not recognise.
