Madhya Pradesh Flood Situation: CM Mohan Yadav Reviews Rescue Operations, 527 People Saved

Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a challenging monsoon situation in several districts after heavy rainfall caused rivers and streams to swell. The administration has stepped up rescue and relief operations, with 527 people already being evacuated from flood-affected areas.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reviewed the situation on Tuesday and directed officials to remain alert in areas facing the risk of rising water levels. The state government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating rescue efforts with field teams.

CM Mohan Yadav Takes Stock of Flood Situation

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reviewed the flood situation through a video conference from the State Disaster Management Situation Room at the Home Guard Headquarters in Bhopal.

Officials briefed him about the latest situation in different districts and informed him that 527 people had been rescued so far.

Yadav also interacted with some of the rescued people during the review and spoke to officials involved in relief and rescue operations.

He directed field teams to continue their work and take immediate action wherever people are facing difficulties because of waterlogging or rising river levels.

Heavy Rain Creates Difficult Conditions

Several parts of Madhya Pradesh have received heavy rainfall over the past few days. The rain has pushed up water levels in rivers and streams, creating flood-like conditions in vulnerable areas.

Some roads and residential areas have also been affected by waterlogging. The sudden rise in river levels during the monsoon can become particularly dangerous for people living close to water bodies.

The administration has therefore kept rescue teams on alert in areas where the situation could worsen.

527 People Rescued So Far

The Chief Minister said rescue teams have successfully saved 527 people from affected areas.

Among them were seven pilgrims who were rescued in Khandwa after water levels suddenly increased.

Yadav appreciated the efforts of the rescue teams and said the administration was continuing to monitor the situation to ensure that people in vulnerable locations receive timely assistance.

Special Warning for People Living Near Rivers

The Chief Minister urged people whose houses are located close to rivers and streams to remain particularly cautious during the ongoing monsoon.

He advised residents to move to safer locations whenever necessary instead of waiting for the situation to become critical.

Yadav also said people could seek assistance from neighbouring districts if they needed help during an emergency.

State Government Monitoring Situation

The Chief Minister said the flood situation was being monitored at the state level. Local administration and rescue teams have been instructed to remain prepared for emergencies.

Although overall rainfall in Madhya Pradesh this monsoon has been around 15 per cent below normal, isolated spells of heavy rain have created serious problems in some districts.

The government is therefore focusing on areas where sudden rainfall can lead to a rapid increase in river and stream water levels.

Relief Work Continues Across Affected Areas

Rescue and relief operations are continuing in the affected districts. Authorities are monitoring water levels and responding to reports of people becoming stranded in vulnerable locations.

The administration is also urging residents to avoid unnecessary movement near flooded roads, rivers and streams.

With the monsoon still active, officials are expected to remain on alert and continue monitoring rainfall and water levels across the state.
