Shihab Chottur, a grocery owner, set off from Athavanad, near Kottakkal in Kerala’s Malappuram district. He walks at least 25 kilometres every day.

According to media sources, he will arrive in Makkah for Haj in 2023 after travelling through India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, and Kuwait, and would ultimately arrive in Saudi Arabia in early February 2023.

He aims to apply for the Haj pilgrimage after arriving in Saudi Arabia and to complete the journey in 280 days.

He is carrying a 10kg bag filled with a bedsheet, clothing, and an umbrella. He seeks refuge at masjids along the road.

Shihab received assistance from Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan and others in pursuing his goal.

He plans to walk across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab before entering Pakistan via Wagah Border.

According to media accounts, Shihab grew up hearing stories of individuals walking from Kerala to the holy territory of Makkah on foot during ancient times, which inspired him to trek to Makkah.

According to media accounts, Shihab was inspired to go on the journey by his mother’s support and encouragement. His wife and other family members were also really helpful.

Shihab is now travelling from Kerala to Makkah with three of his companions. To aid their travel, a six-member crew from Karnataka is accompanying him in the current extension.

According to reports, the study and preparations for the expedition took around nine months, with the most challenging aspect being obtaining the visa documents ready for their foot adventure.
