Election in “State”…….Rescuers From “Centre”

On penning down my thoughts on the warfield developed on the upcoming Karnataka Elections, I am stroked by the glimpses of the press conference where Amit Shah talking about the corruption in Siddaramaiah Govt. mistook instead in addressing Yeddyurappa Govt. the most corrupt one. Certainly, he was immediately prompted of the mistake by the person sitting adjacent to him. Actually, such mistakes get registered in politics.
Anyways, the southern state Karnataka is seeing the political struggle for the throne at its peak. All parties are trying with their utmost vigor to put the throne under their pockets by any hook or crook! But what takes all attention is the war of words between Modi and Rahul Gandhi.
Denouncing BJP’s manifesto as a mere waste piece of paper, Rahul finds reading it worthless! And then Modi plays with his words opining that Congress would better remain confined to PPP (Pinjab, Pudducherry, Pariwar).
However, a boring affair as election get a little spiced up with such interesting statements. But after getting few indications, by some surveys, of bagging a majority, Congress feel a bit relaxed and BJP in a hassle. And perhaps for this reason, the no of rallies by Modi is increasing; initially being 12, to 15 to 18 and now to 21.
Undoubtedly, BJP has no other alternative for the election campaign, like Modi. Because the campaigns do not get on wheels until Modi takes the lead. The past elections clearly demonstrated the expertise of Modi’s orations! The earlier high piched Modi rallies in UP elections were addressed as a “panic” by the opposition. But, as a resultant, BJP came with full majority in the state.
But what seems more interesting in the Karnataka election campaigning is Rahul and Siddaramaiah imitating Modi’s unique style of luring votes. Alike Modi’s “Gujarat’s Gaurav”, Rahul and Siddaramaiah have escalated the issues of “Regional identity”. They have committed to embark a separate acceptance of Lingayat community from the Hindu religion, in the same way as Modi uses “religion” so precisely in his politics.
The elections are on 12th May and 15th May would be the result day. Even after all the calculations, the results cannot be predicted. But the eye balls would majorly stick on whether Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, which is confined to mere four states, will be able to safeguard its presence in Karnataka or Modi would succeed to win another state with his agenda of “CONGRESS MUKTA BHARAT”.
