WhatsApp extends the time limit for select beta testers to ‘delete Messages for everyone’

For select beta testers, WhatsApp has doubled the time restriction for deleting messages for everyone. Previously, everyone had 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds to erase messages.

WhatsApp is developing a number of features to improve the user experience. Previously, everyone had 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds to erase messages. However, according to WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging service is revising the time restriction for deleting messages for everyone.

The functionality is now being handed out to certain beta users. It will soon be available to everyone. A screenshot of the function was also provided on the website. WhatsApp submitted the update via the TestFlight beta Program, increasing the version to 22.15.0.73.

WhatsApp is now giving out this capability to select beta testers. If users try to delete a message sent more than an hour ago and the option “delete for everyone” still appears, it indicates that the capability is already accessible for their WhatsApp account.

“Don’t worry if “delete for everyone” doesn’t really appear: another beta release will make this function available for your accounts,” WABetaInfo stated. Notably, the new time restriction for deleting messages for everyone has only been made available to select iOS beta testers.

In the future, the instant messaging software intends to allow group managers to erase any communication in groups. However, the precise timeline for this feature is unknown because it is still in the development stage.

WhatsApp just published a beta version of their new macOS client. The upgrade is said to be based on Catalyst technology. Users on Mac must connect their WhatsApp account on ios and Android devices to WhatsApp on their Mac. They must first access “Linked Device” inside WhatsApp Settings on their mobile device before scanning the QR code.
