World’s largest yacht owned by Russian Oligarch confiscated by Germany

Germany officially seized the world’s largest superyacht owned by Russian Oligarch Alisher Usmanov, as an in-terim part of sanctions against Moscow due to the outbreak of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Since last October the boat has been docked for repairs in a Hamburg shipyard
According to Forbes magazine, “Dilbar ” the world’s largest superyacht is 156 metre long (1,680 feet), having an estimated value of around $600 million i.e. 555 million Euros.
Reports suggest, German observers had been eyeing the superyacht for several weeks now, but failed to formally initiate the seizure due to legal complexities.
Eventually the German Federal Judicial Police indicated that they had succeeded “after lengthy investigations”.The super yacht is now under the Sanctions formulated and could be seized in Hamburg
The Russian billionaire Usmanov and his sister, both are targeted by the European sanctions against Russian oligarchs as a result of Moscow’s war on ukraine.
Usmanov, 68 is ranked sixth richest person in the UK 2021, as per the list published in the Sunday Times.The confiscation of the “Dilbar” is just the latest in a string of seizures of Russian superyachts under the Western sanctions.
