Shoaib Akhtar lashes out at Marcus Stoinis for imitating Mohammed Hasnain

The imitation was a call out on Stoinis’ part who suggested that the pacer was chucking. The imitation by Stoinis didn’t sit well with many including Shoaib Akhtar.

Looks like the Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has irked the former Pakistani Speedster Shoaib Akhtar. Akhtar lashed out at Stoinis for his less-than-graceful on-field action. Stoinis like many from all the cricketing nations is taking part in the ongoing Hundreds league. And during one such match, he registered an uncalled-for action against bowler Mohammad Hasnain.

During the recent between Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave, Stoinis got out off a bouncer by Hasnain. Despite scoring a satisfactory score of 37 off 27 balls, Stoinis looked agitated after the catch-out dismissal. And in what seems like a moment of agitation, the Australian all-rounder imitated Hasnain’s bowling action while walking off the pitch.

Shoaib Akhtar calls out Marcus Stoinis

The imitation was a call out on Stoinis’ part who suggested that the pacer was chucking. However, Mohammed Hasnain has already received a green signal from the ICC regarding his bowling action. The Pakistani Cricket Board announced Hasnain’s action clarity on the 9th of June. ICC reached the decision after an assessment that figured Hasnain’s elbow extension is in accordance with the 15-degree tolerance level. Consequently, ICC’s approval allowed Hasnain to participate in international as well as domestic leagues.

And thus, the imitation by Stoinis didn’t sit well with many including Shoaib Akhtar. The former pacer turned cricket expert is known to openly express his opinions. And he did the same to call out Marcus Stoinis as he posted a strong remark on Twitter.

“Shameful gesture by @MStoinis regarding bowling action of @MHasnainPak during #TheHundred2022. How dare you do such things?? Of course, @ICC stays quiet about them. No player should be allowed to do such things if someone’s been cleared already,” tweeted Akhtar on Tuesday.

Mohammed Hasnain has proved to be an asset for the Pakistan team in all the outings he’s been a part of the team. The pacer has an average of 37.9 in the international ODI arena. Moreover, he also has a five-wicket haul in this format to his name. Additionally, Hasnain has grasped similar at-par records in the T20 circuit as well where he averages 30.70. The pacer who’s been a part of eight ODIs and 18 T20Is has 12 and 17 wickets respectively.
