Rahul Gandhi Says Bharat Jodo Yatra is for Ameliorating the Damage Done by BJP and RSS
“For Congress, Bharat Jodo Yatra is a journey, an attempt to understand what’s actually happening on the ground in India and undoing the damage caused by BJP & RSS”

Former Congress President, Rahul Gandhi is undertaking a 3,570 Km barefoot march, traversing the country from Kanyakumari to Srinagar. The March will cover 12 states and 2 union territories in a time span of 150 days. Rahul Gandhi said, his idea behind ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ is to listen and connect with people across the country and understand their problems on the ground level.
The BJP took a hit at Congress, calling it a ‘Parivar Yatra’ and claimed that Bharat Jodo Yatra is a manipulative move by Rahul Gandhi to save the glory of his family’s name and to remove the corruption charges in the National Herald case. Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at BJP on Friday over its ‘Parivar Bachao’ remark during his media interaction in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to the media in Tamil Nadu, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of taking control over the country’s institutions and pressuring people who have the courage to go against their will. He further stated that the BJP has deliberately appointed its own people in the institutions of the country to exercise control over everything.
While responding to the media questions, he mentioned “For Congress, Bharat Jodo Yatra is a journey, an attempt to understand what’s actually happening on the ground in India and undoing the damage caused by BJP & RSS.” He took a dig at BJP’s credo, saying “We all have seen the kind of hatred that they choose to spread among the masses, we have seen the divisions that they’ve created in the society. Today, there is a complete capture of institutions in the country…”
Gandhi further alleged that a few businessmen are controlling everything in the country and there are deliberate attempts being made to impose one vision across the entire country by crushing all the other visions.
He asserted that the objective behind Bharat Jodo Yatra is to connect with people. He mentioned that although walking barefoot isn’t considered a ‘fashionable move’ in the Indian politics anymore, he still decided to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra, thinking it’d be an enriching experience. He stated, “It’s not easy but hopefully, I’ll get more understanding of our country and maybe a few months from now, I’ll become wiser.”
When asked about the upcoming elections in the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi mentioned that there’s no confusion in his mind about the presidential elections, “I am clear. There’s no confusion.. it’ll become clear to you whether I contest for the presidential elections or not, when the elections will take place.. if I don’t contest for the president elections, I’ll reply why I did not.” He added during his interaction with the media in Tamil Nadu.
