New Delhi: The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal claims that the Ahmedabad Police searched the Ahmedabad party office for 2 hours last evening. The leader also asserted on getting threats from the police that they shall return again in the future. It is alleged that the immense support collected by the AAP in Ahmedabad is posing a threat to the long lasting and strong hold of the BJP government in the city. The raid was started with the arrival of Kejriwal in the city for the two day tour.
Kejriwal further tweeted that his high support and popularity in Gujarat is not registering well with the BJP government. He said that the authorities did not find anything in the Delhi AAP party offices and the same was the case in Ahmedabad. The party leadership claims that they are honest and patriotic people.
While Kejriwal continues to make such claims and elaborates on the story in different forms, the Ahmedabad Police authorities deny carrying out any such raids. Countering this claim by the Police, the Kejriwal authorities state that no documentation was given and the raid was unofficially done by three police officers.
Similar raids have been carried out by different authorities in the AAP offices across the country over alleged scams and investigations. The growing popularity of AAP in Delhi, Punjab and now Ahmedabad is given as a strong reason for the government to try and bring out some faults with the AAP functions. The reports on the raid were made public through Social Media account of Arvind Kejriwal and additional information was also shared on the alleged style of BJP government in harassing the people.
The other officials of the AAP government share names of police offices from the Navrangpura Station who had visited the party office without a warrant, in attempts to find illegal things. They are stated to have left empty handed after giving a strong warning of return in the future.
The AAP officials claim that the threats by the BJP government are a mirror of their concerns and would not cause any hindrance in the party movements or its attempts to achieve a better standing in the political forefront of India.
