Brahmastra Creates History; First Bollywood Film to Top Worldwide Box Office Chart

Actor Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra managed to gain the position of one of the most watched movies at the global box office during the weekend. The movie was released on 9th September. With this, the movie created history by becoming the first Bollywood film to top the worldwide box office charts. This is the the third for any Indian film.

Notably, Vijay starrer Master and S.S. Rajamouli and Ram Charan starrer RRR were the ones to obtain this accomplishment.

The movie Brahmastra grossed an approximate $26.50 million (Rs. 211 crores) worldwide, of which $18 million was collected from India, $4.50 million from North America and $4 million from the rest of the world. The film is ahead of two other Asian films which made it to the top three; the Chinese movie “Give Me Five” which opened to $21.50 million in China and the Korean movie “Confidential Assignment 2: International” which collected $19.50 million in Korea.

Besides that, Brahmastra was the number one movie in India and UAE. It ranked at number two in North America, Australia and New Zealand and number three in the United Kingdom and Malaysia. In the initial days itself, the movie had huge opening sales at the ticket counters of the theatres.

Box Office India reports say that on Sunday, the film collected around Rs. 38-39 crores. But this number did not account the earnings the movie made in other languages. Adding this up will increase the total amount by another 4 crores. The overall sale stands at around Rs. 42-43 crores on the third day.

Another interesting fact is the movie also beat Yash’s ‘KGF 2’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘War’ in terms of single-day collection at PVR. Undoubtedly, Brahmastra coined the highest amount ever on a single day in the history of PVR.
