Brahmastra made its way to the worldwide box office chart this weekend. It became the first ever Bollywood movie to top the worldwide box office chart. Made under the direction of Ayan Mukherjee, Brahmastra amassed a collection of $6.30 million (Rs 50 crores) in the first two days of its overseas release. This weekend, the collections were increased by $2.90 million (Rs 23.50 cores)
The movie has already earned an approximate amount of Rs 90 crores in India, which brings the worldwide box office collections of Brahmastra to Rs 140 crores in the approximately two days from the release date.
According to the sources, the movie is expected to comfortably roll along an additional overseas revenue of $8.50 million in the coming weekend, which will put the worldwide opening of Brahmastra above 200 crores.
Among all the territories that have screened the movie, North America continues to be the biggest contributor; it became the highest earning territory for Brahmastra. On Saturday, the movie managed to earn a revenue $1.55 million. On Sunday, it earned a whopping $2.00 million in revenue, making it a total of $3.55 million in the first two days of the release date.
Reports suggest that the Middle East has been the second in the list of highest earning contributors. Brahmastra earned a revenue of $1.10 million in the first two days of its release. Australia and the United Kingdom have also welcomed Ayan Mukherjee’s mythological twist, quite well. Brahmastra has managed to earn A$640K and £370K in both countries respectively.
Ayan Mukherjee’s Brahmastra has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Bollywood has witnessed a large number of flops recently, and Brahmastra, with a production budget of a whopping Rs 400 crores, was seen as an ‘astra’ (A weapon ) that could probably revive the Bollywood industry. Since the time of its release, the movie has been getting mixed reviews. Brahmastra is a blend of Hindu mythology and sci-fi elements, the VFX just adds a layer of perfection to it.
Brahmastra is definitely a saga of hopes for the film fraternity. It has started off with a bang! Although Brahmastra has also been through a tough time and has faced its share of the ‘boycott Bollywood trend’, everything seems to be falling in place for the movie now. After the early and remarkable success of Brahmastra, we can definitely hope that the days of doom are finally over for Bollywood.
