A Madhya Pradesh man gets hospitalised after receiving a 3,419 crore electricity bill
The Madhya Pradesh government-run power utility claimed “human mistake” and issued a correct bill of 1,300.

Gwalior: Priyanka Gupta, a citizen of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, was taken aback when she got a power bill for a whopping 3,419 crore, which caused her father-in-law to become ill.
The Madhya Pradesh government-run electricity provider cited “human error” and issued a rectified bill of 1,300, much to the satisfaction of the city’s Shiv Vihar Colony residents, the Gupta family.
Sanjeev Kankane, Ms Gupta’s husband, said his father became unwell after seeing the large figure on the July electricity bill for residential consumption.
State Electricity Board later corrected the charge
The bill, which was released on July 20, was cross-checked through the Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MPMKVVC) portal but was deemed to be correct, he stated.
According to Mr Kankane, the state electricity utility later corrected the charge.
Nitin Manglik, general manager of MPMKVVC, blamed the high power bill on human mistake and stated that action had been taken against the personnel involved.
“An employee entered the consumer number into the software instead of the units consumed, resulting in a greater charge. The power customer has received a revised bill for ₹ 1,300 “He stated.
MP Pradyuman Singh Tomar told media that the error had been corrected and that action was also being taken against the employee in question.
The story is going viral on the internet in huge amounts. Everybody is reacting and sharing this incident.
