World champion from Norway Magnus Carlsen sealed the overall Meltwater Champions Chess Tour title for the second year running -- this time with an event to spare -- after storming into the semifinals of the Aimchess Rapid.

A nerve-wracking final three rounds of the Aimchess Rapid prelim stage saw Polish ace Jan-Krzysztof Duda sail through to the quarterfinals in first place while Anish Giri was sensationally knocked out.
