The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Punjab’s Ferozepur range has seized more than 30 kg of heroin and arrested three people in a major crackdown on a suspected cross-border drug trafficking network ahead of Independence Day.
The ANTF recovered 30 kg 672 grams of heroin during the operation. A Hyundai Verna car allegedly used for transporting the drugs was also seized.
Three Suspects Arrested in Ferozepur
According to the police, the arrested suspects have been identified as 24-year-old Anmolpreet Singh alias Anmol, 22-year-old Akash Singh alias Akash and 25-year-old Anshpreet Singh alias Ansh.
Anmolpreet is a resident of Kasuri Gate in Ferozepur, while Akash belongs to Ghulam Patra and was residing in Sant Kabir Nagar in Ferozepur. Anshpreet is a resident of Machhli Mandi, Rajghat, Ferozepur.
Police said Anmolpreet and Akash are students at an ITI college, while Anshpreet works as an assistant with a private architect. The Hyundai Verna used in the alleged transportation of heroin is registered in Anshpreet’s name.
Heroin Allegedly Sent From Pakistan
The initial investigation has indicated that the seized heroin was allegedly sent by a Pakistan-based drug trafficker identified by the police as Shah Pathan.
According to investigators, the consignment was received by a local drug trafficker in the Alike village area under the jurisdiction of Sadar Ferozepur police station.
The authorities are now investigating how the consignment entered the local network and identifying other people allegedly involved in the operation.
ANTF Intercepts Car on Ferozepur-Fazilka Road
The operation was carried out after the ANTF received specific intelligence regarding the movement of a suspected drug consignment.
Following the information, ANTF teams set up a checkpoint on the Ferozepur-Fazilka Road and stopped a suspected Hyundai Verna.
During the search of the vehicle, officials recovered the large quantity of heroin. The three people travelling in connection with the vehicle were subsequently arrested.
Investigation Into Wider Network Underway
The authorities are now focusing on identifying both the upstream and downstream links of the suspected drug network.
Investigators are also working to identify the person who allegedly received the consignment in Alike village.
A case has been registered at the ANTF Police Station in SAS Nagar under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The FIR was registered on August 10, 2026.
The investigation is continuing as the ANTF attempts to trace other individuals allegedly connected with the cross-border trafficking network.
