After five persons were earlier detained for connections to an extremist group with roots in Bangladesh, a madrassa in Assam’s Bongaigaon was destroyed due to links to the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. With the assistance of the neighbourhood, the Madrassa administration has been executing the eviction since last night.
The district administration stated in an order that the madrasa is structurally susceptible and unfit for human habitation because the madrasa structures were not constructed in accordance with APWD specifications/IS regulations, SP Swapnaneel Deka told ANI.
“Along with an apprehended individual connected to AQIS/ABT, Goalpara district police launched a search operation in the Madrasa yesterday. In accordance with the district administration’s directive, we have begun the process of demolishing the Madrasa, “said SP Swapnaneel Deka.
