A mother tied her 5-year-old daughter with a rope and left her to suffer in the hot sun on Wednesday, angered by her daughter’s lazy attitude toward studies during summer vacation. The incident occurred in the Karawal Nagar neighborhood of Delhi. The minor girl is in class 1 and lives in Tukhmirpur with her family.
After receiving the report, Delhi Police said that legal action had been taken in the case after the reported video began to circulate on the Internet.
“The FIR has been filed at Khajuri Khas Police station under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. The case of a 5-year-old girl who was left tied on a rooftop in the hot sun for not doing her homework is still being investigated, according to Delhi Police.
It’s worth mentioning that the Indian Constitution has a number of provisions aimed at protecting children from physical and mental abuse by educators, mentors, and guardians.
Corporal punishment violations endanger a child’s right to freedom and dignity; thus, Article 21 of the Constitution guarantees any individual’s right to life and dignity, including the right to education for children up to the age of 14th.
Many section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), like sections 323 (Punishment for willingly inflicting pain), 325 for punishment for voluntarily causing severe hurt), 326 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, and 352 for punishment for assault or criminal force other than on grave provocation, argue for children’s protection from corporal punishment.
