Bhupendra Chaudhary, a minister from Uttar Pradesh, has been appointed as the BJP’s state unit chief
After O P Dhankar in Haryana and Satish Poonia in Rajasthan, Bhupendra Chaudhary is appointed making Uttar Pradesh the third state where the BJP is led by a Jat leader.

Bhupendra Chaudhary, a minister from Uttar Pradesh, has been appointed as the BJP’s state unit chief. The likely appointment of Chaudhary is seen as an attempt by the BJP to reach out to the powerful Jat community, which was at the forefront of the year-long farmers’ protest against the three contentious farm laws.
With Chaudhary’s appointment, Uttar Pradesh becomes the third state where the BJP is led by a Jat leader, following Haryana’s O P Dhankar and Rajasthan’s Satish Poonia. Chaudhary, the state’s cabinet minister for Panchayati Raj, met with BJP President J P Nadda late Wednesday evening.
He took over for Swatantra Dev Singh, who was appointed to the Yogi Adityanath government as a minister. Because the chief minister is from eastern Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is also attempting to strike a regional balance by appointing Chaudhary, who is from western Uttar Pradesh, as the party’s state chief.
