Varanasi: Purushottam Mas is also known as Malmas or Adhikmas. It means that during this month there is no “Surya Sankranti”. It is also believed that no auspicious works and ceremonies shall be performed during this month. But this month is very fruitful in carrying out religious deeds. During this month, one can get rid of sins of this life and the past life as well by chanting, meditation of god and charity. In this month, worship of Lord Shri Krishna, chanting versus from Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, Shri Ram Katha Vachan and Lord Vishnu are worshiped.
Devkinandan Thakur ji Maharaj has also coined Purushottam Mas as a wonderful month. He says that on this holy occasion special wishes are fulfilled if one listens to Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. Thus, Thakur ji Maharaj’s Shrimad Bhagwat Katha had also been organized in the town Kashi, the city of Bhole Nath, on the auspicious occasion of Purushottam Mas. Maharaj ji says that if the Shrimad Bhagwat katha is organized at a religious place on the occasion of the holy month, then its importance increases tremendously.
In order to ensure that the devotees continue to get special benefits of this special month, the grand completion of Purnima Mahotsav, 2018 was organized in Thakur Priyakant Ju Temple, Vrindavan on the auspicious occasion of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha’s full moon, in which devotees praised God through devotional songs in Maharaj ji’s presence. Devkinandan Thakur ji Maharaj has done many acts of protection of religion. He has been preaching about the world peace and spreading religion through the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha and Ram Katha, showing youth the right way. Devkinandan Thakur ji Maharaj has been playing an important role in the propagation of religion. Considering his momentous works, Maharaj ji has been crowned with the title of “Sanatan Dharm Patron” by Kashi Vidyut Parishad. Various dignitaries including Prof. Ramayatan Shukla, President of Kashi Vidyut Parishad, were present to honor him with this title.
On this auspicious occasion of “Purushottam Mas”, 108 Shrimad Bhagwat Katha are going to be organized by Devkinandan Thakur Ji Maharaj in Khatu Shyam Ji (Raj.) from 3rd June to 9th June of this year.
