Virat Kohli might lose his spot in the Indian T20I team:  Kapil Dev

Virat Kohli being dropped from the Indian team in any category may have seemed unfathomable even a year ago, but it is already seeming possible, at least for T20 international matches. The indian Cricket captain has gone three years without recording an international century, but this year has witnessed a startling decline in his overall performance.

This year in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kohli only managed to score 341 runs in 16 innings with a pitiful strike rate of 115.98. He subsequently managed to score 11 and 20 against England in the fifth Test. Kohli has also participated in just two T20 Internationals since the T20 World Cup ended last year.

Ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was benched during India’s five-match Test match last year and at Edgbaston this month. If Ashwin could be benched during Test matches, why not leave Kohli off the T20I squad? asks former India captain Kapil Dev. In the past, if Ashwin, the No. 2 bowler in the world, was left off the Test team, the No. 1 batsman may also be benched “Speaking with ABP News was Kapil.

Virat’s present skill does not correspond to his earlier levels from over the years.. He gained notoriety as a result of his performances, but if he stops, you can’t kick the young players who do the same off the squad. I want healthy rivalry among squad members so that these young people would strive to outperform Virat. Kapil said that he had steered India to their maiden World Cup victory in 1983.

For India’s next series in the West Indies, a number of players, including Kohli, have been rested. Additionally, he missed Thursday’s first T20I between India and England, which India won by a score of 50 runs. If Kohli gets “rested” for the West Indies T20I, in Kapil’s opinion, he should actually be “dropped.”

Everyone will have an own perspective on the situation. Firstly, if the selectors refuse Kohli, it can be as a result of a star player’s subpar performance. When you have a lot of alternatives, Kapil said, play in-form players. Assuming you lose five straight games, regardless of whether you are a cultivated player, you probably won’t get one more opportunity.” Finally, he said.
