The Sports Authority of India has approved wrestler Bajrang Punia’s training in the US ahead of the Commonwealth Games
Star wrestler Bajrang Punia will hold a 35-day training camp in Michigan, USA, from June 25 to July 30 to prepare for the Commonwealth Games and World Championships.

The Sports Ministry has given Bajrang Punia permission to train in the United States of America ahead of the Commonwealth Games and World Wrestling Championships later this year. The bronze medallist from the Tokyo Olympics will spend 35 days training in Michigan in preparation for the Commonwealth Games, which he qualified for after winning his trials.
On Wednesday, June 22, the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) of the Sports Ministry approved Bajrang’s training plan. He will train in the United States from June 25 to July 30.
The Target Olympic Podium Scheme will cover Bajrang’s airfare, boarding, and daily fees for the training camp in Michigan, according to the PTI news agency. The fees will also include Bajrang’s personal coach and physiotherapist.
Bajrang was one of the favourites to win gold at the Olympics in Tokyo last year, but he had to settle for bronze after fighting through repechage.Earlier last month, the star wrestler took bronze at the Bolat Turlykhanov Cup 2022 wrestling competition in Almaty.
Meanwhile, the MOC granted financial aid for TOPS development cyclists Ronaldo Singh and David Beckham to purchase two T20 Proteam Look TT track cycles.
The T20 track bikes are new high-end track bikes that were also utilised by the French national team at the Tokyo Olympics.
The MOC also granted financial aid for Sharath Kamal, the country’s top table tennis player, for support staff expenses, fitness training, physiotherapy, rehab and fitness testing, and nutritionist.
It granted financial aid to shooter Anish Bhanwala for 20 days of foreign training and competition at the Shooting Sport Center, Suhl in Germany.
