Roger Federer Rolls Down Curtains on His Tennis Career and Takes Retirement from Competitive Tennis

The 41-year-old tennis player took to his official twitter account and posted a lengthy note to his fans on September 15, announcing that the 2022 Laver Cup in London would be his final ATP tournament. Roger Federer believes that his body has given him an indication that it’s time to bring the curtains down.

In the lengthy note that he posted on his official Twitter account, he wrote “I’ve worked hard to return to full competitive form. But I also know my body’s capacities and limits, and its message to me lately has been clear. I am 41 years old.” There’s no doubt that Roger has dominated men’s tennis for decades, after winning his first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2003.

In the long heartfelt note, Roger also mentioned facts about his physical condition. He said that his body has its own limits and capacity and lately he has started feeling that his body has been giving him a loud message to bring the curtains down.

The 41-year-old star tennis player has played over 1500 matches in the last 25 years of his career. Roger mentioned that tennis as a sport has always treated him generously and now, he must recognize that it’s time to put an end to his competitive career.

Since the time Roger announced his retirement, tributes have been pouring in from every corner of the world. His fellow tennis players called Roger’s retirement ‘the saddest day in the history of tennis’.
