IPL 2022: Rahane on rest due to a hamstring injury
A hamstring injury has forced Kolkata Knight Riders batter Ajinkya Rahane to miss the rest of the IPL. KKR announced on their Twitter account, “Ajinkya Rahane is likely to miss the remaining games of #IPL2022 owing to a hamstring injury.” @ajinkyarahane88, I wish you a swift recovery. “You will be missed by the knights’ camp.”
Rahane said in a video shared alongside the tweet, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time on and off the field with everyone.” As a cricketer, I learned a lot about life and everything. I’m sure I’ll be better next year, and I’m confident we’ll do well as a team in the next game, and hopefully we’ll make it to Kolkata and the playoffs.”
Rahane sustained the injury while batting against SunRisers and did not return to the field. Rahane, a right-handed batter, hit three sixes in his 28-run innings against the SunRisers.
This season, Rahane appeared in seven games for the KKR, scoring 133 runs at an average of 19. This season Rahane top score is 44.
Rahane was secured by KKR for Rs 1 crore during the Bengaluru mega auction in February.
In their final league match, Kolkata will face the Lucknow Super Giants at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai.
KKR are in sixth place with 12 points after seven losses and six victories, and they will need to not just win, but win by a large margin, and then hope that other results go their way to preserve any chance of making the knockout stage.
