IND vs SA 2nd T20I Highlights: Klaasen’s glorious 81-run innings, Team India’s second straight defeat
The second T20 match between India and South Africa was ultimately won by South Africa. By losing 6 wickets in 18.2 overs, Africa defeated India’s 149-run target. Heinrich Klaassen scored 81 runs off 46 balls, with seven fours and five sixes. Temba Bauma, the captain, scored 35 points, while David Miller finished with a score of 20.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar of India grabbed the most wickets with four, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Hershal Patel each claimed one wicket. India were bowled out for 148/6 in 20 overs after South Africa skipper Temba Bauma won the toss and opted to bowl first. India reached this total with 30 runs in the last two overs. Hershal Patel was unbeaten on 12 off 9 balls, while Dinesh Karthik was unbeaten on 30 off 21 balls. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for India with 40 runs, while Ishan Kishan was removed for 34.
The South African, Enrich Norkia, took the most wickets with two. Rabada, Parnell, Pretorius, and Keshav Maharaj all took one wicket each. Team India had previously lost the opening match in Delhi, and is now down 2-0 in this five-match T20 series. The side now needs to win the third T20 encounter in order to keep the series alive.
Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary Indian batsman, called India’s “biggest issue” the lack of wicket-taking bowlers in the roster for the home T20I series against South Africa.
Also, India’s loss to South Africa in Cuttack was their 7th straight loss against the Proteas across formats; earlier this year, India had lost two Tests and three ODIs on a tour to South Africa, and they have now lost two consecutive T20Is.
Meanwhile, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar was upset with India’s bowling performance in the second T20I. He remarked after the match that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the only wicket-taker in the present Indian lineup.
