I Look Forward to Strengthening the Indian Olympic Movement: Nita Ambani, IOC Member
Mrs. Nita Ambani, an IOC Member, praised the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for launching India’s first ‘Olympic Ideals Education Programme’ (OVEP) today in Odisha, emphasizing that OVEP combines the twin strengths of education and sport in imparting the basic values of Olympism. The Olympic Ideals of Excellence, Respect, and Friendship (OVEP) is a practical set of materials developed by the IOC to educate young people about the Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship. The program’s goal is to spread this values-based education so that children can grow up to be active, healthy, and responsible citizens. The inauguration of OVEP is a watershed moment in India’s Olympic movement, as it prepares for the prestigious IOC 2023 Session.
Mrs Ambani led a team for India’s bid to host the IOC Session in 2023 earlier this year, and India was awarded the rights after a 40-year wait. The IOC Session in India ushers in a new era in Indian sports history, bolstering India’s ultimate Olympic ambitions by creating a sports ecosystem in the country that encourages and empowers young people to polish their skills and bring global honours. Mrs Ambani serves on a number of Olympic Movement commissions, and OVEP, which falls under Olympic Education, is very important to her since it helps youngsters learn essential Olympic principles.

“India is a place of limitless possibilities,” IOC member Nita Ambani stated. “We have almost 250 million pupils in our schools, all of them are full of promise and aptitude.” They are the champions of tomorrow, our country’s future. Only a small percentage of children in the world will become Olympians, yet the values of Olympism may impact each youngster. That is OVEP’s objective, and it is what makes it such significant potential for India. I am looking forward to further strengthening the Olympic Movement in our country as we prepare to host the IOC Session 2023 in Mumbai next year.”
