FIFA suspends the All India Football Federation due to undue interference by other parties

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has been banned by FIFA, the organisation that oversees football worldwide, effective immediately.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has been suspended with immediate effect, according to FIFA, the world’s soccer governing body. The FIFA Council Bureau made the choice with unanimity. The choice was taken as a result of inappropriate pressure from outside sources, which constitutes a serious violation of FIFA’s statutes. According to a statement released by FIFA’s official media, “the FIFA Council Bureau unanimously voted to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF) with immediate effect owing to undue influence from third parties, which represents a significant infringement of the FIFA Statutes.”

The body went on to say that the suspension will be lifted as soon as the decision to dissolve the AIFF Executive Committee and restore complete administrative power to the AIFF administration to carry out its day-to-day duties was made.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022, which was scheduled to be held in India from October 11 to October 30, 2022, cannot now be staged in India as planned, according to the release.

FIFA is also assessing the subsequent actions for the occurrence and, if and when necessary, will bring the matter to the Council Bureau.

The statement reads, “FIFA is hopeful that a suitable resolution to the matter may yet be found. FIFA is in frequent constructive contact with India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.”
