Cricket will have a new format in August. On Wednesday, June 22, Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) introduced a brand-new 60-ball contest. Its name is THE SIXTY.
According to preliminary information, the six CPL (men) franchises and the three WCPL teams will all be represented in the first season of THE 6IXTY. Before the CPL 2022 season, it will be held at Warner Park in St. Kitts and Nevis from August 24 to August 28.

Instead of ten wickets, each batting team has six. Hence, when the sixth wicket falls, the batting team will be said to be out;
The batting side can ‘unlock’ a floating powerplay over after hitting two sixes in the first two overs of the powerplay;
As the name implies, each inning will consist of 60 legal deliveries spread across 10 overs; bowling teams will each bowl 30 balls over the course of five consecutive overs. Additionally, the innings must be finished within 45 minutes.
A fielder will be taken out for the final six balls if teams don’t finish their 10 overs within the allotted time;
And through an app or website, users will choose the time that the “mystery free hit” can be consumed.

The International Cricket Council has sanctioned three formats for play at the moment: Test matches, which are played over five days with 90 overs each day; One-Day Internationals, which are played with 50 overs per side; and Twenty20 Internationals, which are played with 20 overs per side.
From August 30 to September 30, it will be the eleventh edition of CPL. The six contending teams are: Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, Saint Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia Kings, and Trinbago Knight Riders.
The reigning champions are the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
The Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, and Trinbago Knight Riders will compete in the women’s competition during the inaugural season of the WCPL.
