The day-night test is back, as New Zealand announces a hectic summer calendar
Over the following ten months, the Kiwis will also play white-ball series at home against India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
This summer, New Zealand will host England in a day-night Test, and the Kiwis will also host white-ball series against India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka during the following ten months.
On Tuesday, New Zealand Cricket unveiled a packed home schedule for the 2019 summer, with the Black Caps hosting five different foreign teams between October and April.
The Kiwis will play a T20I tri series against Pakistan and Bangladesh in early October before heading to Australia for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
After that competition, India will go to New Zealand for three T20Is and three ODIs before England arrives in the middle of February for two Test matches that will not be part of the current World Test Championship.
The first Test of that series will be played under lights at Mount Maunganui, and it will be New Zealand’s first day-night Test match since Auckland hosted an England encounter in 2018.
On the first day of the day-night Test at Eden Park, England were bowled out for 58, with current stars Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jonny Bairstow all removed without scoring as Tim Southee and Boult tore through the visiting batting order.
Following the England series, there will be two Tests against Sri Lanka in March, before a busy few month of cricket concludes with a white-ball series against the Island country until April 8.
New Zealand’s women’s squad will also host Bangladesh in December for three T20Is and three ODIs before travelling to South Africa for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup next year.
New Zealand Cricket CEO David White is optimistic that the summer series would draw large attendance.
The Women’s World Cup last summer did a great deal to popularise the sport, and White said, “It will be wonderful to see the White Ferns in action all around the country.”
Cricket fans may anticipate a summer of top-notch action with the arrival of Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, and India to this region.
