Lucknow Super Giants team won this match but the headlines went to Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rinku Singh. With Quinton de Kock’s century and captain KL Rahul’s half-century, Lucknow set a goal of 211 runs for Kolkata in their first innings. KKR could only manage 208 runs in 20 overs while chasing this total. In the last few overs, two-time champion team Kolkata left-handed batsman Rinku Singh created a ruckus in the Lucknow Super Giants camp. Rinku was dismissed after scoring 40 runs in 15 balls with two fours and four sixes. Rinku was caught by Evin Lewis in the last over and showed the way to the pavilion, if Rinku was not out, then the result of the match would have definitely been in Kolkata’s favor.
Singh had an outstanding performance in the 2022 IPL, scoring 174 runs in seven matches at an average of 34.80 and a strike rate of 148.71.
RINKU’S CONFIDENCE IN HIMSELF

“I worked hard to develop my body language.” My teammates never suspected I was sick. Last year was a difficult year for me because I injured my knee while running a double during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. I was thinking about the IPL when I fell. They informed me I required surgery and that recovery would take 6-7 months.
“I wasn’t happy with myself for being away from cricket for so long.” My father went 2-3 days without eating. I told him it was simply an injury and that it was all part of the game. “I’m the family’s sole breadwinner, so such incidents are bound to worry me,” he explained. “I was a little disappointed,” the southpaw explained, “but I felt I’d bounce back quickly since I had a lot of self-confidence.”
Knight Riders selected Rinku Singh in the major auction in 2018, but Young Turks failed to hit the heights. Despite spending four seasons with KKR, he did not get many opportunities to prove himself. He was also ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 for the first half due to a knee injury.
“Those five years were a struggle for me.” I struggled when I was selected for KKR and given a chance to play after the first year. KKR still had faith in me and kept me for the next several seasons,” Singh said in a video posted on the team’s official Facebook page.
