Indian squad for ODI series against WI announced, Shikhar to take up the captaincy

The three-match ODI series between Team India and the West Indies will be held at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, from July 22 to July 27.

For the three-match ODI series against West Indies, starting on July 22 in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Shikhar Dhawan was selected India’s captain on Wednesday. Notably, veteran players Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the series along with regular captain Rohit Sharma.

Kohli, who was renowned for his explosive batting displays, has struggled to find his form again. The former captain could only manage to score 31 runs in the fifth Test against England at Edgbaston after being excluded from the home series against South Africa.

In fact, Bumrah, who captained Team India in the Edgbaston, dazzled everyone with his speed and explosive batting, smashing 35 runs off of Stuart Broad in a single over to set a world record.

A 16-person Indian team for the ODIs was selected by the BCCI’s senior selection committee.
