BCCI has announced India’s squad for WI T20I series. Virat and Bhumrah on rest

The BCCI has selected India’s roster for the forthcoming T20I series against the West Indies, which begins on July 29. Rohit Sharma will captain the team.

Virat Kohli as well as Jasprit Bumrah have now been rested for the forthcoming T20I series against the West Indies, according to press reports this morning. KL Rahul, who just had sports hernia surgery, and Kuldeep Yadav were included to the 18-man team, subject to fitness. Kuldeep was injured in the home series versus South Africa in June. Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to the T20I squad and will be seeking to secure a place in the T20 World Cup.

Bumrah has also been offered respite by the selection committee in order to manage his workload. Bumrah has been playing non-stop cricket, and with the Indian squad scheduled to play a couple further series before the T20 World Cup, the management decided it would be best to give him a vacation.

India’s 18-man squad for the West Indies series is as follows:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya,  Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav,  Avesh Khan, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav*, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh.
