‘Asia Cup to be held in the UAE’: Confirmed by BCCI President

The Asia Cup 2022 will now take place in the UAE instead of Sri Lanka as originally planned because of the current economic problems.

Sourav Ganguly, the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced on Thursday that the Asia Cup will be held in UAE this year.

Asia Cup will take place in the UAE since that is the only location where it won’t rain for that long, according to Ganguly, who spoke to media following the Board’s Apex Council meeting in Mumbai.

Earlier, ANI sources within the Sri Lanka Cricket Board said that due to the country’s severe financial situation, the board has ultimately decided to move the event to another nation.

“Yes, we intend to move the competition to the UAE. We have spoken with ACC representatives about this issue, and we will shortly make a formal announcement,” a source had previously informed ANI

Sri Lanka has just welcomed Australia for a multi-format series despite the situation. Both teams played excellent cricket in the very contested series. The Warne-Murli Trophy in the Test series was divided when the two-match series ended in a 1-1 tie. Sri Lanka won the ODI series 3-2 and T20I series won by Australia 2-1.

The T20 format will be used during the Asia Cup 2022, which will run from August 27 to September 11. (ANI)
