According to Jay Shah, VVS Laxman has been selected India’s head coach for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour
According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, VVS Laxman of the National Cricket Academy would act as interim head coach for India’s upcoming tour to Zimbabwe.

Due to the short turnaround between the series and the Asia Cup, which starts on August 27 in the UAE, National Cricket Academy head VVS Laxman will serve as India’s acting head coach for the next tour of Zimbabwe, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said on Friday. “Yes, India will be led by VVS Laxman in the three-match One-Day International series in Zimbabwe.” Rahul Dravid isn’t going anywhere. Dravid and the Indian squad will arrive in the UAE on August 23, after the ODI series in Zimbabwe concludes on August 22. Laxman will skipper the Indian team in Zimbabwe because of the short time period between the two competitions. On Friday, BCCI secretary Shah briefed the media.
“Given that only KL and Hooda are on the ODI team in Zimbabwe, it was only natural for the head coach to accompany the T20 squad.”
Zimbabwe will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in Harare on August 18, 20, and 22.
According to Shah, as part of the Asia Cup team, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda would fly immediately from Dubai to Harare.
Historically, the NCA chairman has handled the BCCI’s second string or A teams. As a result, while the first team is out on assignment, Laxman will remain with the Indian squad.
During the Indian team’s visit to the United Kingdom in June and July, Laxman was with the T20 squad in Ireland, while Dravid was with the Test squad in England.
KL Rahul has returned to the national squad after recovering from sports hernia surgery.
He was not intended to be a member of Zimbabwe’s squad at first, but because the medical staff found he was healthy, he will play in the three One-Day Internationals, which will be ideal preparation for the Asia Cup.
