5 things you should never do in a new relationship

Oh, the thrill of a new romance. Is there anything like it? The honeymoon time of a relationship is amazing—everything is sparkly and wonderful, until one day you wake up to realise that you’re an entirely new person! “How did this happen?” you might wonder. Well, it’s probably due to a few inadvertent behaviours you took when your relationship was developing. Are you wondering what these activities are? You could find a handful of them down below…

1. Never pretend to like things you actually hate

It’s critical to always be loyal to yourself, even if you’re in a new relationship. Liking something you despise just because your spouse like it doesn’t benefit either of you. So, whether it’s a rap music, an unusual food, or an adventurous sport, don’t claim to appreciate it merely to please your spouse or make them think of you in a specific manner.

2. Don’t be afraid to ask for your space

If you need some alone time, request it! You should not feel compelled to spend all of your time with your spouse or to include them in your activities. If you want to spend the day alone in your PJs binge-watching your favourite TV show or reading a good book, go for it! After all, even those who are in a relationship require some alone time.

3. Don’t stop hanging out with your friends

This is quite crucial. It’s wonderful to have a new partner, but it’s important to remember to keep your old ones close as well. It may be tempting to spend every waking moment with your new partner, but make time for your friends as well. After all, they are the ones that are always there for you in good times and bad.

Do you have an opinion on something? You’ve been meaning to say something for days. Tell your partner. Show your feelings regarding a certain circumstance, event, or thinking. You have nothing to lose by talking about how you feel. It’s pointless to keep your partner in the dark about stuff. The more they learn about you in the beginning of the relationship, the better.

5. Don’t change your appearance.

If you have curls for days that you enjoy, but your partner prefers pin straight hair, don’t feel obligated to modify the way your hair appears. The same is true for how you dress and apply your cosmetics. At the end of the day, it’s critical to keep oneself happy—pointless it’s to change and be miserable only to impress someone. Someone who is genuinely meant for you will accept you just as you are.
