Sonali Phogat’s Sister Suspects Political Conspiracy Behind her Death, Says: “The Truth Will Come Out Only After a CBI Probe. We are Not Satisfied with the Investigation of GOA Police.”

The 43-year-old former actress and a leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Sonali Phogat who hailed from Hisar, Haryana, was found dead in Goa last month on August 22. In the beginning, a heart attack due to drug overdose was held to be the major cause of death, but later, the family of the BJP leader alleged foul play.

The post-mortem report of the 43-year-old actress and BJP leader showed multiple marks of blunt force injuries on the body. Responding to the post-mortem report, a case of murder was filed in the Goa police station.

The DGP of Goa police, Jaspal Singh, said that the post-mortem report isn’t conclusive. Responding to the media questions about the foul play angle in Phogat’s death, Jaspal Singh stated “Investigation was conducted followed by questioning and CCTV footage was scanned. The footage proved that some “obnoxious substance” was given to her because in the CCTV footage before that, Sonali Phogat was dancing normally.”

Amidst these developments in the death case of Sonali Phogat, her sister Rukesh has now suspected a political angle in the ruthless murder of her sister. In a conversation with a news agency ANI, Rukesh clearly stated “The truth will come out only after a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. We are not satisfied with the investigation by Goa Police. Goa Police is probing the case from a property angle. There could be some big people behind the murder. Sonali could be murdered on political grounds, so there should be an investigation.”

On Sunday, a Khap Mahapanchayat was held in Hisar, demanding a fair CBI probe into the murder case of Sonali Phogat. Responding to the demand of Khap Panchayat and the family of the deceased, The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) gave a green flag to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe from Goa police in the suspicious case of Sonali Phogat’s murder.

Welcoming the decision of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the family of Sonali Phogat expressed some relief. Her sister said “Khap Panchayats have given their full cooperation. Due to the Khap panchayats, there has been pressure on the Haryana and Goa governments in some places,”
