Sonali Phogat’s death: The brother of BJP leader Sonali Phogat has filed a formal complaint with the Goa Police, alleging that she was murdered by two of her associates.
“She had been threatened, and she was terrified. After she complained of being restless, something was added to her food. It’s a homicide… I want her to receive justice “Sonali Phogat’s brother, Rinku Phogat, stated and demanded an FIR before his sister’s post-mortem examination.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that the state police were conducting a thorough investigation into Sonali Phogat’s death.
According to doctors and Goa Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh, it appears she died of a heart attack, Sawant told reporters.
However, Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka claimed that Phogat had spoken to her mother, sister, and brother-in-law just before her death, during which she sounded disturbed and complained about her two colleagues.
He also claimed that after her death, the CCTV cameras, laptop, and other important items from her Haryana farmhouse went missing.
Sonali Phogat (42), a BJP leader from Hisar in Haryana who rose to fame on Tik Tok, was “brought dead” on Tuesday morning at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa, a police official said earlier, adding that she died of a suspected heart attack.
Anjuna police had opened an investigation into an unnatural death. Phogat’s family members arrived in Goa on Tuesday night.
Dhaka claimed in his complaint to the Anjuna police in Goa that two of Phogat’s associates murdered her in Goa.
“We had asked her to stay away from them and return to Hisar the next day (after Phogat spoke with her mother),” Dhaka said outside the Anjuna police station.
He claimed that the police refused to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the two people.
“If an FIR is not filed against them, we will not allow a postmortem in Goa,” he said.
According to Dhaka, the family members would prefer that the postmortem be performed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi or the AIIMS in Jaipur.
“She has been a BJP leader for the past 15 years.” “We will also ask the prime minister to assist us in obtaining justice for her,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sawant stated that he has been following up with Director General of Police Jaspal Singh on the matter.
“The Goa Police are conducting a thorough investigation,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi previously stated that Phogat arrived in Goa on August 22 and was staying in an Anjuna hotel. He said she was taken to the hospital from the hotel around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Sonali Phogat was taken to St Anthony Hospital after complaining of discomfort, DGP Singh told the press on Tuesday.
Even as Sonali Phogat’s family questioned the circumstances of her death and opposition parties in Haryana demanded a CBI investigation, Singh insisted there was no foul play in the case.
The DGP stated that there are no external injury marks on the body and that the postmortem report will reveal the exact cause of death.
