Sidhu Moose Wala’s last rites to be held today, several mourners gather at his residence
On Tuesday morning, several mourners gathered at the home of dead Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala in Punjab’s Mansa region as the family prepared to perform his last rites.
Around 8:15 a.m., Moose Wala’s father arrived at Mansa Civil Hospital to receive his son’s body that had been kept for post-mortem, accompanied by various relatives.
The body has been brought to his home in Mansa’s Moosa village. The funeral for Moose Wala, who was killed on Sunday, will take place on Today.
A large police team has been stationed outside the dead Punjabi singer’s home.
Mourners, particularly young people and followers of the artist, gathered outside the residence to offer their respects. Several people waved banners in his support.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead on Sunday in Punjab’s Mansa district by unidentified gunmen, a day after the state government reduced his security cover.
His cousin and a friend were also hurt in the incident while riding in a Mahindra Thar jeep with him.
The 28-year-old Punjabi singer ran in the last Punjab assembly election on a Congress ticket from Mansa, but was beaten by AAP’s Vijay Singla.
Moose Wala was one of 424 people whose security was temporarily removed or restricted by the Punjab Police on Saturday.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Monday the formation of a judicial commission led by a sitting high court judge to investigate the gruesome assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala.
On Monday, the state police claimed to have apprehended some suspects and obtained vital leads in connection with the crime. It had claimed that the assassination was the result of an inter-gang feud and that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible.
