Mayawati’s BIG move – BSP to support NDA’s V-P candidate Jagdeep Dhankar

Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has announced that her party will back the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar in the election.

Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has announced that her party will back the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar in the election. “It is well known that the election for the position of president, the country’s highest office, was finally held due to a lack of agreement between the government and the opposition. Because of the same circumstances, the election for Vice-President will also take place on August 6th “Mayawati posted a tweet in Hindi.

“In light of the larger public interest and its own movement,” she added in another tweet, “the BSP has decided to extend its support to Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar in the election for the post of Vice President, which I am also formally announcing today.”

The election for Vice President will take place on August 6. This comes just as Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s term ends on August 10, 2022.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has named Jagdeep Dhankhar as its vice-presidential candidate, while opposition parties have chosen Margaret Alva.

Dhankhar, a lawyer by profession, first entered politics in 1989. He was appointed governor of West Bengal in July 2019 and has since made headlines for his tumultuous relationship with the Mamata Banerjee government.

On Sunday, he tendered his resignation as Governor of West Bengal. The vice president of India, the country’s second-highest constitutional post, is elected by an electoral college comprised of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members.

Previously, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) declared its support for the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate Jagdeep Dhankar in the upcoming election. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has announced that it will not vote in the upcoming Vice-Presidential election.

The NDA nominated Venkaiah Naidu as its vice-presidential candidate in 2017, and he went on to become India’s 15th vice president. His term will expire on August 10, 2022.
