India Reports 5,108 Fresh Covid Cases in the Last 24 Hours

On Wednesday, the total number of active covid cases in India decreased to 45,749.

On Wednesday, data was released by the Union Health Ministry. The report states a decrease of 598 cases from the total number of active recorded cases till now. It has been updated in the active COVID-19 caseload within 24 hours.

According to ICMR, 89,02,99,090 samples have been tested up to September 13 for COVID-19. The total death toll in the country is now at 5,28,216. The total recovery rate stands at around 98.71 percent and total recoveries data reached 4,39,36,092.

Notably, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020 in the nation. Again, the daily positivity rate on September 14 was recorded at 1.4 to 4 percent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 89,02,99,090 samples have been tested up to September 13 for COVID-19. Of these 3,55,231 samples were tested on Tuesday.

Furthermore, the city health department informed that Delhi’s death toll has remained the same. It has not recorded any fresh deaths related to the novel coronavirus. The cases in Delhi stand at 591. A total of 422 patients are in home isolation.

Further, on Sunday, Delhi logged 137 new Covid cases with a positivity rate of 1.36 percent and two fatalities. However, it recorded zero deaths due to Covid.

Another report states that a new variant of Covid has been found namely BA.4.6. It is a subvariant of the Omicron Covid variant. It has been quickly gaining grip in the US. Furthermore, it is now verified to be spreading in the UK.

The latest briefing document on Covid variants from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) reported that during the week, beginning August 14, BA.4.6 accounted for 3.3 percent of samples in the UK. However, it has since then grown to make up around 9 percent of sequenced cases.

According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, BA.4.6 now accounts for more than 9 percent of recent cases across the US as well. The variant has also been identified in several other countries around the world.
