Heartbreaking video! Baby birds fall to death after tree gets chopped down in Kerala’s Malappuram

A heartbreaking video of a tree being cut down in Kerala’s Malappuram, killing many baby birds, has gone viral on Twitter.

A heartbreaking video of many baby birds dying because the tree where they were nesting was cut down has gone viral on social media. An Indian Forest Service Officer shared a video of the tragic incident, which occurred in Kerala’s Malappuram district, on Twitter with the caption, “Everyone needs a house.” What tyrants we can be.”

Within seven hours of this article’s publication, the 44-second video shared by IFS officer Praveen Kaswan had been retweeted over 7,000 times.

The images that went viral on social media were reportedly taken in VK Padi in Tirurangadi, Malappuram district, Kerala.

The video shows a JCB destroying a tree in Kerala’s Malappuram region in order to expand the National Highway. As the tree came crashing down, onlookers were shocked and horrified.

Everyone who witnessed the tree come crashing down while many birds were nesting on it was heartbroken. While some were able to fly to safety and avoid the tragic fate, a few baby birds who were still learning to fly were unable to do so.

The tree comes crashing down in the first 20-seconds of the video, whereas the rest of the video is heart-wrenching and displays the bodies of many baby birds who were not old enough to fly or even escape the impact of the fall.

TREE CHOPPED DOWN WITHOUT APPROVAL

The Kerala Forest Department has registered a case under the Wildlife Protection Act over the incident. As per reports, the tree was cut down without official approval. Later, the person who operated the JCB driver was arrested.

Forest Minister AK Saseendran described the incident as cruel and said it was done without the permission of his department. He said there were strict guidelines from the forest department that trees with birds and nests should not be cut down until they are gone.

PWD Minister Muhammad Riyas has sought a report from the National Highway Authority of India. Nilambur North Divisional officer said it will be probed further and strict action will be taken against those involved.
