Empowering Women : Kejriwal’s AAP Launches first Mahila Mohalla Clinic in Delhi, other 110 in the Pipeline
The Mahila Mohalla Clinic will consist of one female doctor, a pharmacist and a multi-task worker to assist the female patients.

The nation’s first “Mahilla Mohalla clinic” was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday. Kejriwal declared there would soon be over 100 of these ‘Mahila Mohalla Clinics’ available after opening the first clinic. These clinics will offer free medical care to women. These Mahila Mohalla Clinics inaugurated by Kejriwal’s AAP, will only provide care for mothers and children under the age of 12. Women will work exclusively in these clinics, and much like in regular Mohalla clinics, all medical services will be provided by the professionals without any charges. All tests pertaining to a woman’s personal heath, in addition to the 239 different sorts of testing performed at general Mohalla clinics, will also be performed there.
While the first ever Mahila Mohalla Clinic has been launched near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, the other 110 such clinics are in the pipeline and would be inaugurated soon. The female Delhi residents can access the services at their neighbouring Mahila Mohalla clinic from Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm. The Delhi government wants to address all women’s and children’s unmet healthcare requirements through the newly inaugurated “Mahila Mohalla clinics.” A total of 10 such clinics will be introduced as part of the pilot project, and on the basis of their success, 100 additional clinics will be later operational throughout Delhi.
The Mahila Mohalla Clinic will consist of one female doctor, a pharmacist and a multi-task worker to assist the female patients. The Mahila Mohalla Clinics will offer a wide range of screening services, pregnancy care, family planning services, child health services, and adolescent health services. It is necessary to have these clinics for women because women and teenage girls cannot generally access healthcare services due to a paucity of female doctors and female-friendly healthcare facilities.
One mohalla clinic sees 116 patients each day on average, and together, these 520 institutions see more than 60,000 patients per day, according to the Outcome Budget that was submitted to the parliament on March 25. The first four clinics have opened at Munirka’s Basti Vikas Kendra JJ Camp, the Sector-4 DIZ neighbourhood, Kondli’s Sapera Basti, and Okhla’s DJB Sewage Pumping Station Batla House.
