Bulldozers demolish illegal extensions at home of man who pushed, abused woman at Noida society

Bulldozers demolished a portion of the illegal extensions at the home of Shrikant Tyagi, who abused and pushed a woman at a housing society in Noida last week, according to officials.

While the bulldozers were partially destroying the glass roof and wooden pillars, the workers took over after 10 minutes because the bulldozers were unable to enter the narrow path.

The demolition comes just a day after his alleged associates showed up at the society, demanding the woman’s address. According to the police, a first information report (FIR) has been filed against Tyagi, and sections of the Gangster Act have been added to it, but he is still on the run.

Ishtiyak Ahmed, the Noida Authority’s general manager (planning), was also on the scene, along with police officers. Noida Authority officials arrived at the Grand Omaxe society in Sector 93 early on Monday with workers to demolish the illegal extensions Tyagi had made to his ground-floor residence, which included a covered extended patio.

Just before 10 a.m., two bulldozers arrived, accompanied by workers attempting to cut loose the wooden pillars that would make way for them. While the bulldozers were partially destroying the glass roof and wooden pillars, the workers took over after 10 minutes because the bulldozers were unable to enter the narrow path. They smashed the glass roof and wooden panels in the narrow path with hammers.

Ankita Sharma, additional DCP Central Noida, is on the scene. The fight between the woman and Tyagi last week, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, was also about encroachment on the common area in the posh residential society.

Hammers were used to break the glass roof and wooden panels in the narrow path. Some residents approached Tyagi, who allegedly planted eight palm trees in the complex’s common area. He had planted the trees over two years ago and was planning to plant some hedges last week, the board members of the residential society had previously told The Indian Express. The board members also stated that they had received several complaints about encroachment.

Social media profiles purportedly belonging to Tyagi, with over 81,000 followers on Facebook and 52,400 on Instagram, describe him as a national executive member of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha, but the party said the man was not associated with it.
