What is the case?
Himank Bansal, an undergraduate law student, was thrashed by a group of people earlier this month.
Following the incident, Himank lodged a complaint with the police on November 11 alleging that he was physically and sexually harassed by 15-20 individuals in his hostel room on November 1.
“They pushed and mishandled him by punching him on face, slapping him, kicking him on the abdominal areas, touched his genitals and forced him to eat certain chemicals and powders,” the FIR stated.
The complaint alleged that Reva, a third year BBA student at IBS Hyderabad, had even attempted to put his genitals into his mouth.
Himank claimed that the accused “tried to tear his clothes, make him naked and kept beating him one after the other with a slogan ‘beat him till he dies’.”
After Himank lodged a complaint in the case, the police registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Sections of the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act.
