Women! Woman is an epitome of love, sacrifice, decency and what not? But what most of us forget is, a Woman is a galvanizing boost of patience; patience in a war–field; patience in a life battle; and patience in a crisis!

THE JUNGLE BOOK
Roaming in a jungle, the clan of elephants can be seen in herds–most of them loitering in a group of 5 or 7 comprising a family. Each herd is strikingly led by an elderly and mature female elephant who with all her wisdom and intellectual experiences seems to guide them in all their endeavors. It is so spell bounding to watch all the family members following their oldest matriarch in a queue– as the leader. When they are together, it is her decision as to where and when the family eats, when they spend time with other elephants, and when to leave the large groups of animals. They do this, because they respect her. Since the wise and old female has a unique trait of sensing the upcoming dangers, it usually profits the rest of the members to follow her lead.
They are grazing; grazing all together as a single unit. Suddenly, the wise mother elephant senses a threat which is still far off the herd. It is commendable to watch the Matriarch leading her family to a much safer zone, away from all the threats. She safeguards them from any kind of risk to their survival, well on time.
Matriarch elephants thus lead their families in a unique way. Protecting them against dangers, they shape the daily lives of their young ones.
She has an awesome memory of places and individuals. By her intricate use of tactics in socially difficult situations and through her excellent social skills, she displays courage and wisdom in times of crisis. She builds, maintains and reinforces the relations altogether. And this is why she is a leader!
BUT AFTER HER DEATH
Families in the clan flourish with old and experienced matriarch leaders. Their loss is severely felt by the other members. The death of a matriarch is inevitably followed by a period of confusion in the family; a period of unrest that usually extends for months after she is gone forever. The spell marks an untold feeling of fear, orphanage, and sadness. And the entire family is seen clueless for days, with disturbing insecurities–“Who will protect us further from crisis and dangers, as flawlessly as her? And who will keep us intact together?” Elephants, despite being speechless creatures, can be seen to be so developed in their being, in the Jungle. They may be speechless but they are never inexpressive! They live in complex fission-fusion societies, even complexer than the humans at times! This entire “Jungle Book of Matriarchy” was hypnotic, indeed! But, stepping back from that serene jungle to this dangerous–jungle world, sadly, the captivating hypnotism ends just in moments.
Here, ironically we humans, in spite of our very sophisticated brains, fail to recognize this unique– tremendous power of a woman. And for this we, who claim to be the highest civilized gens, are merely a hypocrite.
Where we keep blabbering about the patriarchy and deep rooted male chauvinism in the society, the speechless emotional animals recognize the female elephant as their leader! Leader in not “bread earning”! But yes, in the fact that her role is unmatched and irreplaceable during the tough times: the times of darkness, the times of crisis. “ELEPHANTS”, thus, establish a huge benchmark for matriarchy! Aren’t they developed enough to sense their mothers as a warriror?
