OPPOSITION STANDS ALONG NDA BUT OPPOSED BY EC…….ELECTION COMMISSION RULES OUT ONE NATION ONE ELECTION……UPA & NDA ARE TOGETHER BUT EC STANDS IN OPPOSITION

Over a long period of time debate is going on the issue of conducting the elections at the same time across the country. In 1983, election commission expressed the idea of conducting the elections altogether. The Law Commission also reiterated this in its 170th report in 1999, but the debate about the implementation of it started very speedily in the Modi Government. At the beginning of the year, President Ramnath Kovind, while addressing both the Houses of the Parliament, had said ‘Ek Desh Ek Chunav’ (One Nation One Election), then in a manner BJP members pat the table it was clear that president is keep the party’s stance.

Narendra Modi himself has brought this issue to the surface on several occasions but he has also said that there is an agreement between all the parties. But recently, BJP President Amit Shah, in a bid to hold elections together in front of the Law Commission, it seems that the existing government has made the mind for implementing this. Amit Shah had said that this is not just a concept, but a theory that has been successfully applied in the past and can be implemented again without any difficulty.

But there was a shock to an ambitious attempt when the Election Commission rejected all such speculation … The Chief Election Commissioner said there is no possibility of conducting elections in the country altogether as there is a need to work on many legal framework. The Commission gave these answers at a time when it was solemn that the Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh Rajasthan and Mizoram assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year can be avoided till the general elections scheduled in April next year.

Well, there were many arguments in favor of holding elections simultaneously for saving money, preventing administrative work and preventing corruption being given. This process has been stopped while keeping the matter in its place. Also, such parties like Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, who were in opposition, also seem happy, but it is also decided that the concrete preparation of implementation a process of One Nation One Election which was being tried before 1967, will be done by BJP again.
