The End Of ‘YJHD’ & ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ Era As Ranbir Kapoor Announces His Last Rom-Com

Ranbir at the Red Sea International Film Festival revealed that it will be his final romantic comedy

Ranbir Kapoor recently spoke at the Red Sea International Film Festival about his recent flops, the rise of South Indian cinema in the midst of Bollywood’s struggle, and his upcoming films.

During this time, the actor made an announcement that disappointed many of his ardent fans.

Ranbir will next be seen in an untitled romantic comedy directed by Luv Ranjan, following the massive success of Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. For the first time, he appears in a film alongside Shraddha Kapoor.

When asked about his next film, Ranbir revealed that it will be his final romantic comedy.

The actor, who made a name for himself in cult rom-coms such as Bachna Ae Haseeno, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ajab Prek Ki Ghazab Kahani, and Anjana Anjani, will no longer appear in the genre.

“I don’t know, it’s probably going to be one of the last romantic comedies I do because I’m getting older,” he said.

When Ranbir, 40, announced his retirement from rom-coms, a number of his fans in the audience applauded and stated that this isn’t true and that the actor is getting younger.

The actor also discussed his upcoming action thriller Animal, which will be directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

He described it as a “gangster film” in which he plays a “quite shocking” character with “shades of grey.” He also described it as a film he had never made before.

During the session, Ranbir also talked about his flops and added that even though a number of his films have failed at the box office including this year’s Shamshera, there was only one that “hurt him” and that was the 2017 Disney-esque fantasy musical, Jagga Jasoos.
