Actor Prakash Raj has questioned the removal of his name from the Bengaluru voter list after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The actor expressed surprise over the development and said his connection with Bengaluru goes back to his birth, education and theatre days.
Prakash Raj shared a video on X while reacting to the issue. He pointed out that he had not only lived and studied in the constituency but had also contested the Lok Sabha election from Bengaluru Central as an independent candidate. He questioned how his name could be removed from the electoral roll despite his long association with the area.
Prakash Raj Takes A Dig At Voter List Revision
Reacting to the deletion of his name, Prakash Raj took a sarcastic approach and questioned the authorities over the voter-list revision.
In his video message, the actor said he was among those whose names had been removed from the Bengaluru electoral roll following the SIR process. He referred to the development as a “nice joke” and recalled his connection with the constituency.
Prakash Raj said he was born in the same constituency and spent his school and college years there. He also worked in theatre in Bengaluru before establishing himself as an actor.
He further pointed out that he had contested the Lok Sabha election from Bengaluru Central. His comments questioned the manner in which names were removed from the electoral roll and brought attention to the concerns surrounding the voter-list revision process.
Actor Raises Voice Over Ranchi Student Protest
Prakash Raj also reacted to the police action against JPSC and JSSC aspirants during a protest in Ranchi.
A large number of students associated with the JPSC-JSSC Reform Forum had gathered near the Jharkhand Assembly to raise their demands. The candidates formed a human chain before attempting to move towards the Assembly.
The situation became tense when the police intervened to stop the protesters. Water cannons and lathi-charge were used to disperse the gathering. Videos from the protest also showed police personnel using tear gas against the demonstrators.
Prakash Raj shared a video of the incident and strongly objected to the action taken against the protesting students. He questioned the use of force and criticised what he described as “brutality.” He shared his post with the hashtag #justasking.
What Are JSSC-CGL Aspirants Demanding?
The protesting candidates are seeking the cancellation of the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination. They have also demanded a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the examination and recruitment process.
The aspirants have raised concerns over transparency in the recruitment process and alleged that their complaints have not received adequate attention from the state government.
The protest near the Jharkhand Assembly was aimed at putting pressure on the authorities to address these demands and ensure transparency in competitive examinations.
With his latest social media posts, Prakash Raj has raised two separate issues. He questioned the removal of his name from the Bengaluru voter list after the SIR process and, at the same time, condemned the police action against students protesting over the JSSC-CGL examination in Ranchi.
